====== Observatory ======

The observatory is the largest [[factions:freelancers|Freelancer]] safe zone, and is often the first one the player will visit. [[npcs:simmi|Simmi]] can be found here, offering contracts to the player.

To the north it connects to [[regions:crossroads|Crossroads]], and to the south it connects to the [[dungeons:river_dock|River Dock]]. There's also a hidden entrance leading to the [[dungeons:forgotten_tunnels|Forgotten Tunnels]].

Outside the observatory is a small shop, selling some early-game items. Also nearby are some resting [[factions:freelancers]] who can trade with the player.

==== Tape Reader ====

In the back of the observatory is a tape reader, allowing you to play back downloaded data tapes. Use of the tape reader is required to progress a [[contracts:Root Source|certain contract]].

==== Forgotten Tunnels ====

Behind a locked door is a passageway leading to the [[dungeon:forgotten_tunnels|Forgotten Tunnels]], which further leads to the [[dungeon:crash_site|Crash Site]]. The locked door can be picked, or nearby boxes can be climbed to jump over the wall.

  * A computer board is guaranteed to spawn in a locked locker in the observatory
  * There is a "suspicious vending machine" beneath the observatory, only accessible by noclipping, which sells very basic items
